2017 New Year Outlook
Preface
It is now the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, the day most working people return to work, and also the day Xiangzhong starts school. Yet as a college student, I can actually stay on break until the second lunar month, which is why I still have time to write at 2 a.m. I just read an article, and the author’s words described my state to a large extent: a salted fish too lazy even to turn over. The author’s personal experience and advice also made me feel ashamed.
Recently I finished reading Cai Dongfan’s History of the Five Dynasties. After learning about the chaotic history of the Five Dynasties, I sighed that most rulers were muddleheaded and ruined their states, while even enlightened rulers had flaws. At the same time, I put myself in their shoes and asked whether I would be a wise emperor. The answer was no. I am a lazy person with no willpower. I dislike criticism and only like praise. If I were placed in the position of an emperor, I would definitely be a ruler who lost his country. Thinking about that is quite frightening.
For the two reasons above, I plan to make changes in the new year: set New Year goals, complete New Year plans, and become a better version of myself.
2017 Goals and Plans
- Study English every day and increase the workload. As a small-town exam taker, I must pass the language barrier I owe.
- Get up early, before 8 a.m.
- Go to bed early, before midnight.
- Keep eating breakfast.
- Keep exercising every day: go out for a run when the weather is good, and exercise indoors when the weather is bad.
- Do not use laziness as an excuse for anything.
Summary
My sister will graduate and look for a job this year, and I also need to prepare as hard as possible to get recommended for graduate school. I deeply feel that the world is difficult and life is full of dangers; only hard study can bring salvation.
Finally, two “famous quotes” to close the post.
Studying makes me happy.
I love studying, and studying loves me.
